WHAT IS THE MEANING OF BIOSPHERE RESERVES?



BIOSPHERE RESERVES CONSERVE SOME REPRESENTATIVE ECOSYSTEM AS A WHOLE FOR LONG TERM.IN INDIA WE HAVE NANDA DEVI (U.P.),NOKREK (MEGHALAYA), MANAS (ASSAM),SUNDERBAN (WEST BENGAL),GULF OF MANNAR (TAMIL NADU), NILGIRI (KARNATAK), GREAT NICOBAR.SIMILAPUR (ORISSA). WITHIN THE BIOSPHERE RESERVES WE HAVE ONE OR MORE NATIONAL PARKS. FOR EXAMPLE: NILGIRI BIOSPHERE RESERVES HAS TWO NATIONAL PARKS WHICH IS BANDIPUR AND NAGARHOLE NATIONAL PARK.

BUFFER ZONE IS SURROUNDS TO THE CORE AREA & IS MANAGED TO ACCOMMODATE A GREATER VARIETY OF RESOURCES USING STRATEGIES , RESEARCH & EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES



WHAT IS TRANSITIONAL ZONE?


TRANSITIONAL ZONE IS THE OUTMOST PART OF THE BIOSPHERE RESOURCES. IT SERVES AS AN AREA OF ACTIVE CO-OPERATION BETWEEN RESERVE MANAGEMENT & THE LOCAL PEOPLE WHERE IN ACTIVITY LIKE SETTLEMENT, CROPPING, FORESTRY, RECREATION ,etc

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF BIOSPHERE RESERVE?


CONSERVATION: BIOSPHERE RESERVE ENSURE THE CONSERVATION OF ECOSYSTEM, SPECIES & GENETIC RESOURCES.

DEVELOPMENT: BIOSPHERE RESERVE PROMOTE CULTURALLY, SOCIALLY & ECOLOGICALLY SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, MONITORING & EDUCATION: BIOSPHERE RESERVE PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR RESEARCH, MONITORING, EDUCATION & INFORMATION EXCHANGE RELATED TO LOCAL, NATIONAL & GLOBAL ISSUES OF COSERVATION & DEVELOPMENT

  5. Ma'am matter is good and precise. But some words are not defined like vegetation.And kindly correct the Ans No. 3 Because the in India 6% of plant species are conservated from the total of the world. india covers 45000 species of the total flora only because of climate. some species are only found in india and more than 3000 species are documented.
